After an entire year of in-person plus size fashion event withdrawal, I finally got my fix on the weekend of August 14th! Not one but two amazing full-figured fashion events took place in Atlanta, GA: Crusade of Curves and Life Styled Honors.
Crusade of Curves celebrated its 5th anniversary with the first stop of a 3 city tour. The event kicked off in Atlanta and will continue in Houston, TX, in September and wrap up in Raleigh, NC, in October.
Created by plus size model Mallory B. Richardson, who was the 2017 Face of Full Figured Fashion Week and is the owner of The Platform Experience, Crusade of Curves spread its wings this year from its home of Raleigh, NC. Mallory and her fantastic team brought together an eclectic mix of designers, models, vendors, etc, in a super-inclusive, judgement-free zone.
Mallory was joined by plus model and host Carolyn ‘Cee’ Renée and special guest Courtney Arlett, writer of Pretty For A Big Gurl TV Series, who made sure the audience felt entertained and an important part of the show.
Obioma Fashions
Guests were treated to “A Fresh mix of Western + Traditional Attire” from My Obioma African fashions by Emeka Goz Anyadiegwu, stylish yet super comfortable designs from Studio Noelle by Darcia Vega, and African fashions with a twist from Fly Heart Designs. They were all a cool drink of water on a sweltering summer day (which it was, by the way).
And the models who rocked these styles made them even more stunning! Shaquilla Shelton, Chevnee Triplett, Sherita Ivory, Janiece Bryant, and Brittany K were just a few of the bodacious beauties who cruised this year’s catwalk.
