How many times have I drooled over a designer dress, imagining its decadent fabric sliding seamlessly over my curves? And then, of course, reality hits: I’ll never wear it because it doesn’t come in my size! Way too many times.
But no more! Now curvy girls can indulge their fantasies to the fullest with 11Honore, the first e-retailer to offer plus size women high-end designers and brands like Zac Posen, Prabal Gurung, Jason Wu, and Christian Siriano. Founder Patrick Herning states, “Brands like 11 Honoré need to exist for many reasons. It’s really, really important that curve continues to show up in a meaningful way, front and center during Fashion Week, because there’s so many customers to be speaking to.”
And each and every one of those curvy customers was listening intently at this February’s runway show at Spring Studios, including me! I was one of the lucky first people to see the brand-new collection, featuring Design Director Danielle Williams-Eke and showcased by plus size models such as cover girl Candice Huffine, Philomena Beyonce Kwao, Marquita Pring, and many, many more beauties. I was truly amazed at how Danielle transformed ordinary staples like pant suits, black dresses, and pencil skirts into drool-worthy styles.
She declares, “Ultimately my mission is to push inclusivity and diversity within the fashion industry, specifically focusing on normalizing size inclusivity and the representation of people of color within an industry that I have loved for many years.”
I, for one, will be very happy when she can say “Mission accomplished!”
