Take Time to Take Care.
During this super busy time where we are having to juggle a new normal, life can seem particularly overwhelming. From organizing a work from home schedule or trying to teach children or grandchildren school lessons, there can be little room left for self. But we must take the time to take care. When in the midst of the throws of life, remember self care is not selfish. It is necessary to reload our personal battery pack to keep on moving.
Put Your Oxygen Mask on First
When we fly on an airplane, the flight attendant instructs us to “put your oxygen mask on first,” before helping others. These little instructions are sooo relevant during the most difficult times of life when we are pulled in too many different directions. Before we help everyone else, we have to help ourselves. Self care doesn’t have to mean taking some elaborate vacation. We can find time for self care in small moments each day.
Carve Out Time for You
Carve out time for you, whether is it daily meditations or weekly home spas. Or, perhaps it is spending time reading your favorite magazines or books. What about a long drive through the countryside? It is all about doing the things that refresh your spirit. For me, I pray, spend time browsing the online shops, and watching a favorite movie. When we take care of ourselves, we have more time, energy, and joy, which makes it easier to take care of others. Self care is not selfish. Do this for you.
