Breast cancer. There are few things women dread more than hearing these 2 little words and it’s unlikely that any one of us has not known at least one woman diagnosed with this devastating disease.
While science has thankfully made great strides in treating breast cancer and survival rates are higher than ever, there’s no denying that the ordeal of treatment, usually including rigorous chemotherapy, radiation, and/or surgery, is painful, exhausting, and often demoralizing, especially when dealing with the loss of hair, so strongly linked with a woman’s self-esteem and sense of beauty.
But there are women out there who recognize how important it is for a patient to feel her best even when enduring this grueling process, namely Cleveland fashion designer Diane Linston and salon owner and breast cancer survivor Denise West. These two gutsy gals have developed “Breast Blouses”; comfortable, all cotton tops that are available in a variety of patterns, colors, and styles. What sets them apart, though, is that they’re all made with velcro, providing an easy way for doctors to reach chest ports during chemotherapy and allowing women to hold onto their dignity during invasive procedures. States Diane, “I want patients to feel good about themselves while taking chemo therapy.”
Denise’s Story
Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013, Denise quickly discovered how little privacy was granted to patients during treatment and how painful it was to cover her sensitive chest ports. This “aha!” moment inspired her to join forces with Diane Liston, owner of Styles of Imagination boutique in Beachwood and, after much research and gaining invaluable feedback and advice from other breast cancer patients, Breast Blouses was born!

Breast Cancer Blouses Available Nationwide
And breast cancer patients don’t have very long to wait to try them out! In only a matter of months, several large-scale retailers, as well as some hospital gift shops and local stores, will be carrying Breast Blouses for only $65 each. West states vehemently, “You can make it through this journey. I want you to look good, I want you to feel good and something as simple as this blouse during your treatment, you know, could be the difference.”
