Silver Fox Soiree Shines a light on Sexy Mature Women
Cultured Curves has you in the loop for the plus size side of New York Fashion Week. We covered the curvy events to keep you in the know. Think style stops at 30? Think again! The “Silver Fox” (meaning people over 50, generally with gray or graying hair, who are fabulous, charming, and classy) segment of the fashion industry has been growing by leaps and bounds over the last few years as the world realizes just how much elegance, charisma, and energy these ageless sexy mature women exude.

Gwen DeVoe, Founder
This was never more apparent than at the Silver Fox Soiree on September 18th, hosted by Gwen DeVoe, the creator of Full Figured Fashion Week (AKA, the “Oscars” of the plus industry). After 10 years of producing FFFWeek, Gwen decided to shine a much-deserved spotlight on curvy silver foxes at an event where judgment is banned, inclusivity is embraced, and individuality is all-important.

Entertainment Awesomeness
Of course, what would a soiree be without entertainment? In between designers and honoree presentations, guests were treated to performances by spoken word artist Karen Washington, AKA “KW The Voice,” and the rapturous sound of violinist Priya DeBerry. DJ Jerry Dee kept the party going throughout the entire event with a mix of rousing, relaxing, and nostalgic tunes.

Silver Fox Soiree Honorees
In between the fun and the fashion, the most important event was taking place; the recognition of this year’s honorees. A huge thank you for all their hard work and dedication to empowerment, inclusivity, and positivity goes to photographer Dorothy Shi, Heather McGarry, the AVP of Public Relations and Social Media for long-time sponsor Lane Bryant, Rena Abramoff and Julia Abasova, co-founders of anti-chafing thigh bands Bandelettes, Michelle Walden of Michi Knitwear, and Sharon Quinn, pioneer plus model, former Casting Director for FFFWeek, and Executive Producer of Model Behavior TV show.
