Sometimes You Have to Encourage Yourself
Are you surrounded by loved ones who encourage and uplift you every day? If so, consider yourself blessed. Many women are not that fortunate. There is no one else. Maybe it is because you are divorced or an empty nester. For those women and all of us, it is important to know that sometimes, you simply have to encourage yourself.
Or perhaps, you DO live with someone; a spouse, children, or family. Being surrounded by people does not always equate to having a continuously supportive environment. Sometimes, you have to be your own cheerleading squad.
I am reminded of a gospel song by Donald Lawrence and the Tri-City Singers, called Encourage Yourself. Because it is popular, I hear it often in my church. The lyrics are as follows:
Sometimes you have to encourage yourself
Encourage Yourself, Donald Lawrence and the Tri-City Singers
Sometimes you have to speak victory during the test
And no matter how you feel
Speak the word and you will be healed
Speak over yourself, encourage yourself in the Lord”
Regardless of whether you follow any religion, the message is the same, your words have power. Release them into the universe and as a result, watch them return with grace.
